All the Lovers in the Night Book Review All The Lovers In The Night by Mieko Kawakami What All the Lovers in the Night Is About Mieko Kawakami’s All the Lovers in the Night (すべて真夜中の恋人たち) is a quiet, tender, and deeply introspective novel about loneliness, emotional survival, and the fragile ways people begin to find their way toward connection. Translated into English by Sam Bett and David Boyd, the novel follows Fuyuko Irie, a proofreader in her mid-thirties whose life is defined by routine, silence, and isolation. Loneliness, Work, and Ordinary Judgment Fuyuko is socially awkward, painfully reserved, and almost entirely consumed by work. She has spent ten years at the same office, quietly doing her job and speaking to almost no one. But even though she keeps to herself, the people around her do not extend the same courtesy. Her life becomes a subject of commentary, especially from an older woman at work who cannot seem to understand or tolerate a woman who is unmarried, childless, a...

The Housemaid Movie Review: A Book Lover’s Honest Take

Image
The Housemaid is a flawed adaptation that struggles to capture the emotional depth of the book, but ultimately redeems itself with a powerful ending. Not so great part A Slow Start Compared to the Book Unlike the novel, the movie starts on a rather slow note. It isn’t as engaging as the book, and the depth of many scenes doesn’t quite land the way it does on the page. Moments that felt intense, layered, and emotionally charged while reading felt noticeably flatter on screen. Spoiler Alert Key Scenes That Lost Their Impact For instance, in the book, the first time Andrew and Millie sleep together is filled with passion and longing. It unfolds smoothly and feels emotionally right, making it easy for the reader to believe in their connection. In the movie, however, the scene feels rushed and almost forced. There’s barely any chemistry, and the moment exists without leaving much of an impact. Similarly, when Andrew throws Nina out of the house in the book, it’s a major shock. Even though I...

Review- Raavan by Amish Tripathi

Image
Review- Raavan by Amish Tripathi Raavan Book Review The third book of the Ram Chandra Series - Raavan , given to us by our favorite Amish Tripathi , is a phenomenal addition to the epic. The text contains ups and downs, adventure, drama, turns, twists, suspense, and secrets. Through it, the author has given us an insight into the character of Raavan - how he became what he became, and why he did what he did without justifying his actions. The story is set in Treta-yug . It describes Raavan’s journey from his birth, and how brilliant his mind was brilliant even in his childhood, probably because of his father who was a genius. However, even Raavan’s genius could not please his father for a reason. Which pressurized and agitated him, and he started to hate his father and eventually his mother too. Kumbhkaran is the only one whom he loves dearly, except for another person (shhh…) for whom his respect even surpasses God. Later on, he would also be fond of Inndrajit- his son. Other t...

Cleopatra and Frankenstein ✨Cleo, a twenty-four-year-old British painter🎨🖌️, has fled England🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 for New York🇺🇸 and is still figuring out her position in the restless city when she meets Frank a few months before her student visa expires. Frank's life is full of all the indulgences that Cleo's lacks, despite being twenty years older and a self-made success. He gives her the opportunity to be joyful, the freedom to paint, and the possibility to apply for a green card🟩. However, their hasty marriage🥴 irreparably alters both their lives and the lives of those close to them in ways they could never have foreseen. ✨Other Characters include- Quentin, Zoe, and Anders. ✨Zoe ❤️ is an absolutely delightful person. I loved her character. ✨Through Cleo and Frank the book shows that we can be friends with our exes, we might not be compatible with them, but that does not make them bad people. Just because we cannot be together as life partners does not mean that we should no...
